Here at ELM Farms we have two purebred Weimaraners, both blue and both full of spunk. Earlier this spring we mated them for the first time. Belle, our female was due June 12th, but went into labor a few days early. As the due date approached everyone here at the farm was excited and nervous for our first time mother-to-be. We were as prepared as we could be with emergency items and lots of towels. Two weeks prior to the due date we took Belle for an x-ray at the vet to give us an idea of how many pups to expect.
This year on the farm we had two adorable Nigerian Dwarf kids born that needed tattooing. In the past our goats had already been tattooed prior to coming to the farm. This year was different. After ordering a nice tattoo kit from Hoegger Supply Company I realized that I would need some assistance. I recruited my sister-in-law to help out for the task. I had read everything I could for help and shared what needed to be done with my assistant. Headed out to the barn we felt like we belonged on some reality show about learning things on the farm.

AuthorI find myself wishing I had a small blog about learning experiences around the farm. So I have added this blog page to our farm website to share stories, learning and events from the farm. Archives
